Malinga double hat trick magic blows away NZ: 3rd T20 (Pallekele)

Veteran Lasith Malinga took four wickets in four balls and became the first player to take 100 wickets in Twenty20s as Sri Lanka claimed a sensational victory against New Zealand.

New Zealand, chasing 126, were bowled out for 88 but won the series 2-1. Malinga took 5-6 including a double hat trick, a first in T20 international history.

Earlier, Danushka Gunathilaka top scored for Sri Lanka with 30 as Kiwi spinners Mitchell Santner (3-12) and Todd Astle (3-28) applied the brakes.

Sri Lanka 125 for 8 (Gunathilaka 30, Santner 3-12, Astle 3-28) beat New Zealand 88 (Southee 28*, Malinga 5-6) by 37 runs.
