Devastating Malinga creates history with double hat trick (Pallekele)

Veteran paceman Lasith Malinga took four wickets in as many balls in an astonishing spell of fast bowling against New Zealand.

Chasing a paltry 126 runs to win, New Zealand openers Colin Munro and Tim Seifert scored 15 before 36 year old Malinga rattled Munro's leg stump for his 100th Twenty20 international wicket.

Malinga removed Hamish Rutherford and Colin de Grandhomme in his next two deliveries to claim his second hat-trick in the format before trapping Ross Taylor lbw for his fourth in the over for the rare double hat trick, a first in T20 history.

Malinga finished the evening with 5-6 in his four overs to bowl out NZ for 89.

3rd T20, Sept 2019.
