Root, Burns hit centuries, lead fight back: 2nd Test, Day 3 (Hamilton)

Skipper Joe Root returned to form to hit his 17th Test century against New Zealand before rain cut short play after tea.

Root shared a 177-run stand with Rory Burns (101) and finishes unbeaten on 114.

England finished on 269-5 after New Zealand fought back with two wickets after tea.

England 269 for 5 (Root 114*, Pope 4*) trail New Zealand 375 (Latham 105, Mitchell 73, Watling 55, Broad 4-73) by 106 runs.
