Agar hat trick flattens Proteas: 1st T20 (Jburg)

Allrounder Ashton Agar took a hat-trick as Australia romped to a 107-run win, inflicting the heaviest ever defeat on South Africa in the shortest format of the game.

Agar took a career best 5-24 as the hosts were bowled out for their lowest score of 89. He had Faf du Plessis caught on the ropes, then trapped all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo in front before finding a edge from Dale Steyn to complete the hat trick in the 8th over.

Earlier, Dale Steyn removed David Warner with just the second ball of the game but Aaron Finch (42 off 27) and Steve Smith (45 off 32) ensured the visitors posted a heathy 196-6.

Australia 196 for 6 (Smith 45, Shamsi 2-31, Steyn 2-31) beat South Africa 89 (du Plessis 24, Agar 5-24) by 108 runs.
