India take command despite Paine resistance: 1st Test, Day 2 (Adelaide)

Allrounder Ashwin took 4-55 as India secured a vital 53 run first innings lead over Australia despite dropping four catches.

Without a gritty innings from captain Tim Paine (74 not out), the deficit for Australia would have been much worse after they slid to 111-7 at one stage.

India survived 6 overs to be 9-1 after losing Shaw.

India 244 (Kohli 74, Starc 4-53) and 9 for 1 lead Australia 191 (Paine 73*, Ashwin 4-55, Umesh 3-40) by 62 runs.
