Honours even as Smith pounds India: 3rd Test, Day 2 (SCG)

Steve Smith roared back into form with a hard hit 131 but the Indian bowlers triggered a middle order collapse to seize back control.

Australia started at 166-2 but lost key wickets in the morning session which triggered a slide. Bumrah and Jadeja bowled well in tandem as Australia surrendered 8-132 in 35 overs.

In reply, Shubman Gill stroked a maiden Test fifty as India ended on 96-2 to leave the match evenly poised.

Australia - 338/10 in 105.4 overs (Smith 131, JR Hazlewood 1) vs India 96/2 in 45.0 overs (Gill 50, CA Pujara 9, AM Rahane 5).
