Bairstow settles nerves, leads win over SL: 1st Test, Day 5 (Galle)

Jonny Bairstow carried England to their target inside 35 minutes on the final morning of an enthralling encounter as they beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets.

After coming together at a precarious 14-3, Bairstow ended unbeaten on 35 and Lawrence 21 as they pushed England over the line.

England 421 (Root 228, Lawrence 73) and 76 for 3 (Bairstow 35*) beat Sri Lanka 135 (Bess 5-30) and 359 (Thirimanne 111, Leach 5-122) by seven wickets.
