Mitchell defies England after late collapse: 2nd Test, Day 4 (Trent Bridge)

England picked up three wickets late on the fourth day to leave New Zealand 224-7, only 238 ahead.

Enjoying a 14 run lead, NZ lost an early wicket but a century stand between Will Young and Devon Conway steadied them before the late collapse. Only Daryl Mitchell (32 not out) remain from the established batsmen for the Kiwis to stretch their lead.

Earlier, Joe Root was out for a majestic 176. England then suffered a collapse of five wickets for 23 with Foakes being run out for 56. The home side were dismissed for 539, a first-innings deficit of 14 runs.

New Zealand 553 and 224 for 7 (Mitchell 32*, Henry 8*, Young 56, Conway 52) lead England 539 (Root 176, Pope 145, Lees 67, Foakes 56, Boult 5-106) by 238 runs
