Stokes powers England to World Cup glory: 2022 T20 Final (MCG)

Ben Stokes was the star as England stamped themselves cricket's white-ball kings after withstanding Pakistan's fearsome pace attack to win the T20 World Cup final by five wickets.

In gloomy conditions, Pakistan was asked to bat first and struggled to 137-8. Sam Curran and Adil Rashid used the conditions to peg back the Pakistani’s.

The low total suddenly looked much bigger as Pakistan quicks Haris Rauf and Shaheen Shah Afridi took three wickets inside the powerplay, and kept the pressure on England’s batters in the middle overs.

Stokes (52 not out from 48 balls) with help from Harry Brook and Moeen Ali calmly repaired the damage to take England to their second T20 title.

England 138 for 5 (Stokes 52*, Rauf 2-23) beat Pakistan 137 for 8 (Masood 38, Curran 3-12, Rashid 2-22, Jordan 2-27) by five wickets.
