Chase shines as nervous Windies pip PNG: 2024 T20 World Cup (Providence)

All rounder Roston Chase steered the West Indies through a nervy chase over PNG in their T20 World Cup opener in Guyana.

After being 95-5, Chase smashed an unbeaten 42 off 27 balls as the tournament co-hosts chased down a modest target of 137 with 6 balls to spare.

Earlier, Sese Bau’s belligerent 50 off 43 balls (six fours, one six) took PNG to 136 for eight.

West Indies 137 for 5 (Chase 42*, Vala 2-28) beat Papua New Guinea 136 for 8 (Bau 50, Russell 2-19) by five wickets.
