England on top after Smith maiden century: 1st Test, Day 3 (Manchester)

Jamie Smith’s maiden century had England in a commanding position in the first Test against Sri Lanka.

Smith's 111 helped England to 358, a first-innings lead of 122.

In reply, Sri Lanka slumped to 1-2 before lunch. Angelo Mathews dug in to make 65 and Kamindu Mendis posted 56 not out as Sri Lanka reached 204-6, leading by 82.

Sri Lanka 236 and 204 for 6 (Kamindu 56*, Chandimal 20*) lead England 358 (Smith 111, Brook 56, Asitha 4-102) by 82 runs.
