Matthews, Dhananjaya steady SL, honours even: 1st Test, Day 3 (Galle)

Angelo Mathews (34) and Dhananjaya de Silva (34) defied New Zealand with unbroken 59-run stand for the fifth wicket to steady Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka ended at 237-4, a lead of 202 runs.

Earlier, Prabod Jayasuriya took 4-136 as the Kiwis were bowled out for 340.

Sri Lanka 237 for 4 (Dhananjaya 34*, Mathews 34*, O'Rourke 3-37) and 305 lead New Zealand 340 (Latham 70, Mitchell 57, Jayasuriya 4-136) by 202 runs.
