Asalanka carries SL to win over Kiwis: 1st T20 (Dambulla)

A captain's knock by Charith Asalanka inspired Sri Lanka to a narrow four-wicket victory over New Zealand with six balls to spare in Dambulla.

Spinners Dunith Wellalage, Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana shared six wickets as they bowled out New Zealand for 135 in 19.3 overs.

In reply, Sri Lanka stumbled early in the run chase but Asalanka’s 35 not out was the difference in the 4 wicket win.

Sri Lanka 140 for 6 (Asalanka 35*, Foulkes 3-20) beat New Zealand 135 (Foulkes 27*, Wellalage 3-20, Thusara 2-14) by four wickets.
