Ashwin triggers England collapse, India win 4-1: 5th Test (Dharamsala)

Ravichandran Ashwin took 5 wickets as India completed the demolition job of England for a 4-1 series triumph at Dharamsala in the 5th and final Test.

England posted only 218 in their first innings.

Opener Shubman Gill's stroked a century (110), as did skipper Rohit Sharma (103) as India got off to a splendid start. Padikkal and Sarfraz added fifties.

On Day 3, Indian pair Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah resumed with India 255 runs ahead. James Anderson completed 700 Test wickets with Kuldeep's wicket but India has managed an imposing 477.

Ashwin, in his 100th Test match, picked up 5-77 and a match bag of 9 wickets to help dismiss England for 195 and secure a win by an innings and 64 runs. Root played a lone hand of defiance for 84.

India 477 (Gill 110, Rohit 103, Padikkal 65, Sarfaraz 56, Bashir 5-173) beat England 218 and 195 (Root 84, Ashwin 5-77, Bumrah 2-38) by an innings and 64 runs.
