Australia snuff out England fight, retain Ashes: 3rd Test, Day 5 (Adelaide)

Description:

Adelaide Oval is an iconic destination known for its eye pleasing ground and immediate surrounds. Primarily known for it's excellent cricket facilities, the oval also hosts football matches, concerts and functions.

In 1871, the Adelaide Oval playing area was levelled and planted. The Oval was officially opened on December 13 with a cricket game between British and colonial-born players. It hosted its first Test match in 1884 when Australia played England.

Regarded as one of the most picturesque sporting grounds in the world, the oval is characterised by its Heritage Scoreboard, century old Moreton Bay Fig Trees and grassy Northern Mound.

History was made in November 2015 when Australia took on New Zealand in front of a crowd of 50,000 on the first day of a Day/Night Test match.
