Inzamam-Ul-Haq was born in Multan, Pakistan on 3rd March 1970. He is one of Pakistan's greatest batsman and also captained his country from 2003 until he retired in 2007 just 3 runs short of Javed Miandad's all time test runs record for Pakistan. In his typical understated manner, Inzy just shrugged off falling short so close after being stumped by Mark Boucher in his final innings by saying “I wanted to break the record, but Javed bhai was a much better player than me.”.
After making his debut in 1991 against the Windies with scores of 20 and 60, Inzy made his presence in the 1992 World Cup campaign that ended in a stunning win for Pakistan. He led Pakistan to an unexpected win in the semi-final against New Zealand with an explosive 60 in only 37 balls as they chased down the home team's 262 in Auckland. In the final. he made 42 in 35 balls to help Pakistan reach 249 after a very slow start at the MCG.
Inzy made his test debut in 1992 against England where he scored 8 not out. After a brief period on the sidelines, he returned to the test team in 1994 and made 58 not out to secure a 1 wicket win for Pakistan's series win against Australia at home. He made a career best 329 against New Zealand in Lahore in 2002.
Despite having a powerful frame, Inzy possessed a subtle elegance to his batting. His first captain, Imran Khan called him the "the best batsmen in the world against pace...he seems to have so much time on his hands before the ball reaches him".
Inzy was seen as a lazy runner between the wickets and was run out 40 times in ODI's. He had 9 man of the match awards in Test cricket and 24 in ODI's.
During his 15 year career, Inzy was involved in many controversies including the ball tampering issues in 2006 when Umpire Hair called off the test and for assaulting a spectator in Toronto (1997 Sahara Cup).
