
Alexander Hurwood was born on 17 June 1902 at Kangaroo Point, Brisbane. He died on 26 September 1982, Coffs Harbour, New South Wales. He was a right handed off spin bowler who bowled at a brisk pace.
Hurwood played one Test for Australia against the West Indies (1930/31) and State cricket for Queensland (1925-1932). He toured England with the Australian team in 1930 but did not play in any of the five Tests.
Hurwood served in World War II as an anti-aircraft gunner in the Australian Army from 1940 to 1942, and as a flight lieutenant with the Royal Australian Air Force from 1942 to 1945.
