Mithra de Silva Wettimuny (11 June 1951 – 20 January 2019) was a right handed opening batsman who briefly represented his country at the international level. Born in Colombo, he was part of the renowned Wettimuny cricketing family, with his brothers Sunil and Sidath also playing for Sri Lanka.
At school level, Wettimuny proved to be a shrewd captain leading the Ceylon Schools team which included future Test captains Bandula Warnapura and Duleep Mendis on its incredibly successful cricket tour to India in 1969-70.
He played two Test matches and one One Day International (ODI) for Sri Lanka, all during the 1983 tour of New Zealand.
