Nuwan Zoysa was a tall, left arm fast bowler. He formed an effective bowling partnership with fellow left arm quick, Chaminda Vaas, during the 1997-2004 period in Test cricket
He represented Sri Lanka in 30 Test matches and took 64 wickets and posted 288 runs. His numbers are much better in the 50-over format – 108 wickets and 3213 runs in 95 matches. Zoysa retired after his last ODI in 2007.
After retirement, Zoysa took up coaching. In 2018, Zoysa was banned for six years by the International Cricket Council for match-fixing during a T10 tournament in the United Arab Emirates.
Zoysa was charged under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code and was found guilty of three offenses:
