Jeff Dujon: Never lost a Test series in long career

Dujon, Peter Jeffrey Leroy

Jeff Dujon was a fine athletic wicket keeper and attacking middle order batsman. He made his Test debut against Australia at the MCG in 1981 after taking over the gloves from the legendary Deryck Murray.

Dujon was a key component in the all-conquering Windies sides of the 1980s, a man who never participated in a losing series after playing 81 Tests. His tally of 272 victims (267 catches, 5 stumpings) has been exceeded only by Ian Healy and Rod Marsh.

Dujon was an effective, attacking batsman usually batting with the tail after coming in at No 6 or 7. He scored 3322 Test runs, with 5 centuries and 16 half centuries. Dujon's best Test score of 139 was made against Australia at Perth in the 1984/85 where he rescued the Windies after a top order collapse.

He was named as a Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1989.

Dujon retired after the Oval Test against England in 1991. He subsequently turned his hand to coaching and commentating.
