Bradley-John Watling was born on 9 July 1985 in Durban, South Africa. He migrated to NZ as a 10 year old.
Watling played for his adopted country, NZ, in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh in 2004. He is a wicket keeper and top order batsman who made his First Class debut for Northern Districts Knights in 2004
He was selected in New Zealand's squad to play a series against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in October and November 2009. Watling made his international debut when he kept wicket in the first Twenty20 International in Dubai.
Watling made his Test debut v Pakistan at Napier, Dec 11-15, 2009.
He and Brendon McCullum put together a record sixth-wicket partnership of 352 against India in Wellington in Feb 2014.
