Craig Richard Ervine, born on August 19, 1985, in Harare. A left-handed middle-order batter, Ervine has been a mainstay in Zimbabwean cricket since his international debut in 2010.
Cricket runs deep in Ervine’s family. His brother, Sean Ervine, also represented Zimbabwe before pursuing a successful county cricket career in England. Their father, Rory, and uncle, Neil, played first-class cricket for Rhodesia B, while another uncle, Gordon Den, and grandfather, Alexander Den, also had cricketing stints.
His early life was marked by resilience; he nearly lost his right hand in a childhood accident involving broken glass, but a successful reconstructive surgery allowed him to continue his cricketing journey.
Ervine first captained Zimbabwe in a Test match in February 2020, stepping in for Sean Williams.
