Harry Cherrington Brook was born on February 22, 1999, in Keighley, Yorkshire. He is an elegant right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm medium paceman.
Brook hails from a cricketing family; his father, David Brook, played for Burley-in-Wharfedale Cricket Club and holds the family high score of 210. Brook began playing cricket at the age of two and made his debut for Burley U9s at just six years old.
Brook made his T20I debut against the West Indies on January 26, 2022, and his Test debut against South Africa on September 8, 2022.
On October 10, 2024, during the first Test against Pakistan in Multan, Brook scored a remarkable 317 runs. This innings marked England’s first triple century in 34 years, with the previous being Graham Gooch’s 333 in 1990. Brook also put on a 454-run partnership with Joe Root, who scored 262. This stand set a new record for England’s highest partnership in Test cricket.
In May 2025, Brook was appointed as England’s white-ball captain, leading both the ODI and T20I teams.
