Abhishek Sharma is a left-handed opening batsman and occasional slow left-arm orthodox spinner, born on 4 September 2000 in Amritsar, Punjab.
He represents India, Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad in domestic and franchise cricket. He was part of India’s victorious 2018 Under-19 World Cup side and made his senior India T20I debut against Zimbabwe in July 2024.
Sharma developed a reputation as an exceptionally aggressive T20 batsman. His breakthrough international innings came in 2024 when he scored a century against Zimbabwe, and in February 2025 he made 135 from 54 balls against England at Mumbai, then his highest T20I score. He also became the leading run-scorer and Player of the Tournament at the 2025 Asia Cup, scoring 315 runs.
His most spectacular recent performance came against Afghanistan in September 2026, when he smashed 108 from 34 balls, reaching his century in just 30 balls. That was the fastest T20I hundred by a batter representing a full-member nation, surpassing Rohit Sharma’s previous Indian record of 35 balls.
Style: Sharma is a high-risk, high-impact power-hitter who particularly targets the powerplay, while his left-arm spin gives India an additional bowling option. His combination of opening-batting aggression and occasional spin has made him a distinctive component of India’s T20 setup.
