Blair Tickner is known for his consistent pace and aggression, both on the international stage for the Blackcaps and domestically for the Central Stags.
Born in Napier in 1993, Tickner is a right-arm medium-fast bowler who made his international debut across all three formats (T20I, ODI, and Test) between 2019 and 2023.
Tickner made his debut in the T20I format on February 10, 2019, against India in Hamilton. His debut in the ODI format came later, on March 29, 2022, against the Netherlands at Mount Maunganui, where he had a standout performance taking figures of 4-50. He completed the set of international debuts with his first Test match on February 16, 2023, against England, also at Mount Maunganui. He took one wicket in the first innings of that Test.
His domestic career for Central Districts, which began in 2015, has been the bedrock of his rise, where he has amassed a significant number of wickets, particularly in First-Class cricket (Plunket Shield) and the domestic T20 competition, the Super Smash, where he was once the leading wicket-taker in a season.
Despite facing personal challenges, including his wife's battle with leukaemia and losing his father's home to a cyclone, Tickner has shown immense resilience, earning a recall to the national squad in 2025 and being named the Central Stags' Player of the Season for his high-energy, determined performances.
