Born in Ambala, Haryana, on 31 December 1999, Naman Dhir is an aggressive right-handed batter and off-break bowler whose ascent through Punjab's domestic ranks quickly marked him as a modern white-ball prospect.
After making his first-class debut in the 2022/23 Ranji Trophy highlighted by an early career-best 134, he played a crucial all-round role in Punjab's 2023 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy triumph. His explosive lower-order strokeplay and clean striking against pace caught the attention of the Mumbai Indians, earning him his maiden IPL contract in 2024.
Dhir's IPL breakthrough arrived via a blistering 62 not out off 28 balls against Lucknow Super Giants in 2024, locking down his role as a late-innings finisher. Retained as a core middle-order accelerator, he continued his steady progression across subsequent seasons, delivering 252 runs at a strike rate of 182.60 in IPL 2025, followed by 318 runs in IPL 2026.
His domestic and franchise consistency translated to international recognition in September 2026 with a maiden India ODI call-up against the West Indies. After making his ODI debut on 27 September and contributing a crisp 30 off 21 balls in the third match, Dhir announced his value on the international stage during his T20I debut on 6 October 2026 in Lucknow. He picked up an impressive 3/31 with his off-spin, signaling that his secondary skill could offer India vital balance as a dynamic, dual-threat all-rounder.
