Abdul Malik Khan was born on 11 March 1998 in Baghlan, Afghanistan.
A right-handed top-order batter who bowls occasional right-arm off-spin, Malik developed his game through Afghanistan’s domestic cricket structure, representing Amo Region in first-class and List A competitions.
His batting is built around patience, sound technique and the ability to occupy the crease, making him a potential asset in the longer formats as he continues to gain experience at international level. His progression reflects Afghanistan’s continued efforts to develop a deeper pool of players capable of competing across all three international formats.
Malik made his Test debut against Zimbabwe in March 2021 and subsequently featured in Afghanistan’s international set-up, including one-day internationals.
One of his notable performances came against Zimbabwe in December 2024, when he scored 84 off 101 balls, displaying his ability to construct an innings and balance defence with scoring opportunities. The innings highlighted his temperament and potential as a top-order contributor.
