Nissanka leads strong SL reply: 2nd Test, Day 2 (St Georges)

Opener Pathum Nissanka struck 89 to lead a strong Sri Lankan batting effort on the second day against South Africa at St George's Park.

Nissanka shared stands of 41 with Dimuth Karunaratne (20), 109 with Dinesh Chandimal (44) and 49 with Angelo Mathews (40 not out) as Sri Lanka closed on 242-3.

Earlier, keeper Kyle Verreynne's unbeaten century helped South Africa post 358.

Sri Lanka 242 for 3 (Nissanka 89, Mathews 40*) trail South Africa 358 (Verreynne 105*, Rickelton 101, Bavuma 78, Kumara 4-79) by 116 runs.
