Khawaja, Smith centuries dominate Sri Lanka: 1st Test, Day 1 (Galle)

Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith slammed centuries to put Australia in a commanding position on the opening day of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.

Usman Khawaja (147 not out) and Travis Head (57) gave Australia a flying start after being asked to bat first.

After Jayasuriya dropped a simple chance off Smith (104 not out) early, he became only the 15th player in history – and the fourth Australian – to surpass 10,000 Test runs.

Khawaja and Smith have combined for an unbroken third-wicket 195-run partnership at stumps.

Australia 330 for 2 (Khawaja 147*, Smith 104*, Head 57, Vandersay 1-93) vs Sri Lanka.
