Late Maxwell blast delivers thrilling win over South Africa: 3rd T20 (Cairns)

Glenn Maxwell was the hero as Australia clinched the T20I series 2–1 with a thrilling two-wicket win over South Africa in the third match at Cairns.

Chasing 173, captain Mitchell Marsh steadied the innings with a composed 54 before Maxwell’s explosive 62 off 36 balls* sealed victory in the final over.

Earlier, Dewald Brevis had powered South Africa to 172 with a blazing 53, but despite late pressure from the Proteas bowlers, Maxwell’s brilliance carried Australia home with a ball to spare.

Australia 173 for 8 (Maxwell 62*, Marsh 54, Bosch 3-26 ) beat South Africa 172 for 7 (Brevis 53, Ellis 3-31) by two wickets.
