Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by six wickets in their 2025 Asia Cup Group B clash at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
After choosing to bowl first, Sri Lanka struck early, removing both Bangladesh openers without a run on the board. Bangladesh recovered from 53-5 through Jaker Ali’s 41 and Shamim Hossain’s unbeaten 42 to post 139 for 5 in 20 overs, with Wanindu Hasaranga taking 2 for 25.
In reply, Sri Lanka’s chase was clinical as Pathum Nissanka’s brisk 50 and Kamil Mishara’s unbeaten 46 guided them home in just 14.4 overs. The result boosted Sri Lanka’s campaign, while Bangladesh’s path to the Super Four stage was left in jeopardy.
Sri Lanka 140 for 4 (Nissanka 50, Mishara 46*, Mahedi 2-29) beat Bangladesh 139 for 5 (Shamim 42*, Jaker 41*, Hasaranga 2-25) by six wickets.
