Malinga spares embarrassment for SL: 2016 Asia Cup SRL v UAE (Mirpur)

Skipper Lasith Malinga (4-26) dealt twin blows in the very first over to peg back minnows UAE as they limped to 115 for 9 following a curious batting display by Sri Lanka who posted a target of only 129.

SL got off to a fast start in the first 10 overs racking up 72 runs after Chandimal scored 50 off 39 balls with seven fours and one six. Some questionable shots without any pressure saw SL score only 57 in the next 10, losing seven more wickets as they crumbled to 129.

Sri Lanka 129 for 8 (Chandimal 50, Javed 3-25) beat UAE 115 for 9 (Patil 37, Malinga 4-26) by 14 runs.
