Waseem keeps UAE hopes alive after win over Oman: 2025 Asia Cup No 7 (Abu Dhabi)

UAE secured a crucial 42-run victory over Oman in their Asia Cup 2025 Group A clash in Abu Dhabi, keeping their Super Four hopes alive.

Batting first, UAE posted a strong 172/5, thanks to brisk half-centuries from captain Muhammad Waseem and Alisha's Sharafu, who was later named Player of the Match.

Oman began the chase with intent but faltered against disciplined bowling, with Junaid Siddique leading the attack with an impressive 4/23. The pressure mounted as wickets fell regularly, and Oman were eventually bowled out for 130 in 18.4 overs.

The win not only lifted UAE’s confidence but also opened up the race for qualification from Group A.

UAE 172 for 5 (Waseem 69, Sharafu 51, Ramanandi 2-24) beat Oman 130 (Bisht 24, Siddique 4-23) by 42 runs.
