Hay, Conway edge NZ ahead of Windies: 2nd Test, Day 2 (Wellington)

New Zealand tightened their grip on the second Test in Wellington as Day 2 ended with the West Indies struggling at 32/2 in their second innings, still 41 runs behind.

Earlier, the visitors were bowled out for 205 before New Zealand replied with 278/9 declared, earning a 73-run lead built on half-centuries from Devon Conway and debutant Mitch Hay.

With Brandon King unbeaten on 15 at stumps, the West Indies face a challenging road ahead after New Zealand’s disciplined bowling and steady batting put them firmly in control.

West Indies 205 and 32 for 2 (King 15*, Rae 1-4, Duffy 1-8) trail New Zealand 278 for 9 dec (Hay 61, Conway 60, Phillip 3-70) by 41 runs.
