Rohit, Ishan blaze quick runs but rain prevents win: 2nd Test (Trinidad)

The second Test between India and the West Indies at Port of Spain, Trinidad, ended in a rain-affected draw, though India remained firmly in control throughout.

Batting first, India posted a strong total of 438, anchored by Virat Kohli’s composed 121—his first overseas Test century since 2018—alongside Rohit Sharma’s 80 and useful lower-order runs from Ravindra Jadeja and Ishan Kishan.

In reply, the West Indies were bowled out for 255, with captain Kraigg Brathwaite top-scoring with 75 as Mohammed Siraj produced a fiery spell to claim 5 for 60.

Seeking quick runs, India declared their second innings at 181 for 2, with Rohit and Jaiswal setting the tone before Kishan’s brisk unbeaten 52.

Chasing 365, the hosts reached 76 for 2 when rain washed out the final day, forcing a draw. Despite the weather, India took the series 1–0, with Siraj named Player of the Match for his standout bowling performance.

West Indies 255 (Brathwaite 75, Siraj 5-60, Jadeja 2-37) and 76 for 2 (Brathwaite 28, Chanderpaul 24*, Ashwin 2-33) need a further 289 runs to beat India 438 and 181 for 2 dec (Rohit 57, Kishan 52*, Gabriel 1-33).
