Curran rescues England before rain spoils: 1st T20 (Christchurch)

Allrounder Sam Curran rescued England as they posted 153/6 in 20 overs after being sent in to bat in the 1st T20 against New Zealand.

England recovered from a shaky 81/5 thanks to Curran’s unbeaten 49 off 35 balls. Early wickets from Mitchell Santner and Kyle Jamieson kept New Zealand on top during the first half of the innings, but England’s lower order steadied the ship.

Persistent rain arrived soon after England’s innings, preventing any play in New Zealand’s chase. The match was abandoned without a result, leaving the five-match series level at 0-0.

England 153 for 6 (Curran 49*, Bracewell 1-10) vs New Zealand - match abandoned.
