Zimbabwe in charge after Curran’s maiden century: Only Test, Day 2 (Harare)

Opener Ben Curran struck a century as Zimbabwe took control of the one-off Test against Afghanistan on the second day in Harare, building a commanding lead after a strong batting display.

After bowling Afghanistan out for just 127 on the opening day, Zimbabwe replied with 359 in their first innings, powered by Curran’s brilliant maiden Test century of 121 and a valuable 65 from Sikandar Raza.

Debutant Ziaur Rahman was the standout bowler for Afghanistan, claiming impressive figures of 7 for 97 to prevent an even bigger total. By stumps, Afghanistan were 34 for 1 in their second innings, still trailing by 198 runs, as Zimbabwe tightened their grip on the match heading into day three.

Afghanistan 127 & 34 for 1 (Ibrahim 25*, Ngarava 1-9) trail Zimbabwe 359 (Curran 121, Raza 65, Ziaur 7-97) by 198 runs.
