SL in spectacular collapse as Pakistan win title: Tri T20 Final (Rawalpindi)

Pakistan crushed Sri Lanka by six wickets to clinch the 2025 T20I Tri-Nation final after Sri Lanka crumbled to 114 all out — a suspicious collapse sparked by a destructive spell from Mohammad Nawaz and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Sri Lanka began steadily as Kamil Mishara and Kusal Mendis put together a promising partnership that took them to 84/1 by the 11th over, offering hope for a competitive total.

But what followed was a stunning collapse. Once Mendis fell to Mohammad Nawaz, Sri Lanka lost nine wickets for just 30 runs — sliding from 98/2 to 114 all out in 19.1 overs.

Apart from Mishara’s 59, not a single batter from the middle or lower order reached double figures, and there were multiple ducks.

The collapse was orchestrated mainly by spin — Nawaz finished with 3/17, supported by Abrar Ahmed and fellow spinner Saim Ayub, while Shaheen Shah Afridi mopped up the tail with his fast bowling.

Chasing a modest target of 115, Pakistan’s openers got things off to a calm start with Saim Ayub scoring 36 and Sahibzada Farhan contributing 23 in a 46-run stand. Then Babar Azam anchored the chase with an unbeaten 37 off 34 balls, guiding Pakistan to 118/4 in 18.4 overs — winning by six wickets with eight balls to spare.

The victory sealed the tri-series trophy for Pakistan, underlining their dominance with both bat and ball over Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

Pakistan 118 for 4 (Babar 37*, Ayub 36, Rathnayake 2-11) beat Sri Lanka 114 (Mishara 59, Nawaz 3-17, Shaheen 3-18, Abrar 2-18) by six wickets.
