England crumble to Lyon spin: 3rd Test, Day 4 (Adelaide)

Australia closed in on winning the Ashes on Day 4 of the third Test at Adelaide as England struggled in pursuit of an imposing 435-run target.

After Australia’s strong batting across both innings, the hosts’ bowlers applied relentless pressure, with Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon striking at key moments to halt England’s momentum.

Despite a fighting 85 from Zak Crawley, late wickets saw England slip to 207/6 at stumps, still 228 runs short, leaving Australia just four wickets away from a series-deciding victory heading into the final day.

England 286 and 207 for 6 (Crawley 85, Cummins 3-24, Lyon 3-64) need 228 runs to beat Australia 371 and 349 (Head 170, Carey 72, Tongue 4-70).
