Windies Crush England as Rutherford and Spinners Take Control: T20 World Cup No 15 (Mumbai)

West Indies defeated England by 30 runs in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group C clash at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Batting first, the Windies posted a strong 196/6, powered by a brilliant 76 off 42 balls from Sherfane Rutherford, with support from Roston Chase and Jason Holder to set up a challenging total.

In reply, England were bowled out for 166 in 19 overs, despite an unbeaten 43 from Sam Curran. West Indies’ spinners made the difference, with Gudakesh Motie (3/33) and Roston Chase (2/29) taking crucial wickets to secure a convincing win and strengthen their position in Group C.

West Indies 196 for 6 (Rutherford 76*, Chase 34, Rashid 2-16) beat England 166 (Curran 43*, Motie 3-33, Chase 2-29) by 30 runs.
