Ravindra frustrates England, edge NZ ahead: 3rd Test, Day 3 (Nottingham)

Rachin Ravindra returned to form with the bat at the correct moment as New Zealand regained the upper hand on the third day of the decisive third Test at Trent Bridge after bowling England out for 354 to secure a first-innings lead of 84 runs.

Resuming on 223-2, England lost wickets regularly despite Harry Brook’s fighting 58, with Nathan Smith, Will O’Rourke and Zak Foulkes sharing the spoils. The hosts were unable to build on their promising overnight position, allowing the Black Caps to take control of the contest.

England struck back early in New Zealand’s second innings as Jofra Archer removed both Tom Latham and Devon Conway in a fiery opening spell, while Gus Atkinson also claimed a wicket to leave the visitors at 51-3.

However, Rachin Ravindra produced an unbeaten 60 and, alongside Daryl Mitchell, guided New Zealand to 120-3 at stumps. With an overall lead of 204 runs, the Black Caps head into day four holding a strong advantage in the series decider.

New Zealand 438 and 120 for 3 (Ravindra 60*) lead England 354 (Duckett 113, Bethell 74, Brook 58, Smith 4-91, Foulkes 3-35, O'Rourke 3-53) by 204 runs.
