Maiden Sooryavanshi fifty helps India outclass Zimbabwe: 1st T20 (Harare)

Teenager Sooryavanshi smashed his maiden fifty as India cruised to a seven-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the opening T20I at Harare, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

After choosing to bowl first, the visitors produced a disciplined all-round display to restrict Zimbabwe to 125/7 from their 20 overs.

Wessly Madhevere top-scored with 39, while Mayank Yadav starred with the ball, using his pace to claim key wickets and earn the Player of the Match award.

The chase was dominated by Sooryavanshi, who blasted his maiden T20I half-century, reaching 50 from just 19 balls in a dazzling innings featuring four fours and four sixes.

Ishan Kishan added a fluent 35 before captain Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 28 to guide India to 126/3 in only 13.2 overs, sealing an emphatic win with 40 balls to spare and continuing India’s impressive form in the shortest format.

India 126 for 3 (Sooryavanshi 50, Kishan 35, Muzarabani 2-26) beat Zimbabwe 125 for 7 (Madhevere 39, Mayank 2-18, Prince 2-19) by seven wickets.
