Masood, Imam anchor strong Pakistan reply against Windies: 1st Test, Day 2 (Tarouba)

Shan Masood led the way as Pakistan seized the advantage on Day 2 of the opening Test, dismissing the West Indies for 311 before responding strongly to reach 199 for 3, trailing by just 112 runs.

Resuming on 194 for 3, the hosts lost overnight batsman Kavem Hodge for 84—falling just short of a century—while Shai Hope played a fine innings of 92 before narrowly missing a hundred of his own.

Fast bowler Mohammad Ali was the standout performer for Pakistan, taking 4 for 50, while Mohammad Abbas provided excellent support with 3 for 63 to wrap up the innings.

Pakistan’s reply got off to a shaky start when debutant opener Azan Awais fell in the opening over. However, captain Shan Masood led a superb recovery, scoring an unbeaten 88 and combining with Imam-ul-Haq (63) in a commanding 155-run second-wicket partnership.

Jayden Seales eventually broke the stand late in the afternoon, but Pakistan comfortably navigated the remainder of the session to reach stumps in a dominant position.

With Masood still at the crease, the visitors are well set to build a crucial first-innings lead
