Miraz triggers Aussies collapse as Bangladesh secure historic win: 1st Test, Day 4 (Darwin)

Bangladesh completed a historic nine-wicket victory over Australia on Day 4 in Darwin, winning their first Test on Australian soil.

Australia resumed at 161/4 but were bowled out for 284, leaving Bangladesh only 57 to win. Cameron Green produced a magnificent 104, but Bangladesh’s spin attack, led by Mehidy Hasan Miraz (5/66), finished the job.

Bangladesh needed just 14.2 overs to reach 57/1, with Mominul Haque 30* and Shadman Islam 25*.

Hasan Mahmud, who took 6/55 in Australia’s first innings, finished with nine wickets in the match and was named Player of the Match. Bangladesh take a 1–0 lead in the two-Test series after a remarkable all-round performance.

Bangladesh 426 (Tanzid 101, Shanto 84, Mehidy 65, Hazlewood 6-89) and 57 for 1 (Mominul 30*, Shadman 25*) beat Australia 198 (Smith 71, Mahmud 6-55, Ebadot 2-39) and 284 (Green 104, Smith 44, Mehidy 5-66, Mahmud 3-56) by nine wickets.
