England has Pakistan on brink of whitewash after Robinson strikes: 3rd Test, Day 2 ...

England tightened their grip on the third Test, turning their overnight 156/4 into 453 all out and securing a commanding 320-run first-innings lead over Pakistan in Birmingham.

Harry Brook (75), Dan Lawrence (65) and Jamie Smith (69) all struck valuable half-centuries, while Ollie Robinson added a rapid 50.

Pakistan debutant Razaullah was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, but England’s lower order ensured the hosts pushed well beyond 400.

Pakistan’s second innings began disastrously, with Ollie Robinson taking two wickets in his first over to remove Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique without conceding a run.

Shan Masood and Azan Awais then steadied the innings, taking Pakistan to 52/2 at stumps, but they still trail by 268 runs. Rain curtailed play, leaving England needing just eight more wickets to complete a 3–0 series sweep.

Pakistan 133 and 52 for 2 trail England 453 (Brook 75, Smith 69, Lawrence 65, Gay 60, Robinson 50, Razaullah 4-148) by 268 runs.
