South Africa on brink of win after Jansen routs Australia for 99: 2nd Test, Day 4 (Port ...

Marco Jansen took a five wicket haul as South Africa tightened their grip on the second Test against Australia on Day 4 at St George’s Park, Gqeberha, after bowling the visitors out for just 99 in their first innings and enforcing the follow-on.

Marco Jansen spearheaded the attack with a superb 5/33, while Wiaan Mulder claimed 2/14 and Kagiso Rabada took 2/33. Steve Smith top-scored with 28, but Australia’s batting line-up collapsed under sustained pressure, conceding a massive 326-run first-innings deficit after South Africa declared at 425/9.

Australia showed greater resilience in their second innings, reaching 156/4 at stumps, but still trailed by 170 runs with one day remaining. Travis Head led the resistance with an unbeaten 87, while Rabada and Simon Harmer claimed two wickets apiece to keep South Africa firmly in control.

Australia face a daunting final-day battle to save the Test, while South Africa need six more wickets to secure victory and level the series at 1–1.

Australia 99 (Smith 28, Jansen 5-33, Mulder 2-14, Rabada 2-33) and 156 for 4 (f/o) (Head 87*, Rabada 2-30, Harmer 2-47) trail South Africa 425 for 9 decl by 170 runs.
