Kavem Hodge stroked an undefeated century as West Indies strengthened their grip on the second Test against Bangladesh, reaching 345 for three in their second innings on Day 4 to establish a commanding overall lead of 315 runs.
Hodge produced a magnificent unbeaten 140, his third Test century, while Kevin Wickham impressed on debut with a fluent 78. The pair shared a decisive 165-run partnership for the third wicket, putting the visitors firmly in control after Bangladesh had earlier posted 386 in reply to West Indies’ first-innings 356.
Hodge continued to dominate the Bangladesh bowling attack, combining patience with authoritative stroke play, while Amir Jangoo remained unbeaten on 20 alongside him at stumps.
Taijul Islam was Bangladesh’s most successful bowler with two wickets for 118 runs, but the hosts struggled to contain the West Indies batting.
With a 315-run advantage and seven wickets remaining, the visitors are well placed to set Bangladesh a formidable fourth-innings target and push for victory in the series-deciding Test.
West Indies 356 and 345 for 3 (Hodge 140*, Wickham 78, Taijul 2-118) lead Bangladesh 386 (Hridoy 242*, Mushfiqur 34, Warrican 4-104, Seales 2-58) by 315 runs.
