South Africa took a 442 run lead as AB De Villiers (162) went on a six hitting spree including 4 in a row off McDonald to take his team to a record 651 against Australia.

He was helped by a maiden test fifty from Albie Morkel (58) in a 124 run partnership as the Aussies wilted under the sustained attack.
