First ever test: Hookes & Wessels crush Sri Lanka (1983)
Australia won its first ever Test against Sri Lanka.
Keppler Wessels scored 141 and David Hookes 143 not out to lay the foundation for a score of 514-4 declared.
In response the Lankans posted 271 and 205. Only Arjuna Ranatunga 90 and Sidath Wettimuny 96 could muster any defiance in each innings.
