Angelo Mathews and Lasith Malinga's amazing world record ninth-wicket stand condemned Australia.
The Sri Lankans, chasing 240 for victory, looked dead and buried at 107-8 in Melbourne. But Mathews (77 not out) and Malinga put on a 132 to take the visitors to the brink of victory.
